Maxim Nagornov

An experienced promoter and practitioner of the Enterprise Architecture and Solution Integration methodologies and tools, Maxim Nagornov has spent the last several years leading the Solution Architecture capability development at one of the biggest corporations in the telecommunications industry – Nokia Siemens Networks. His main professional objective is in breaking the barriers between technological, operational, business and mindset silos through thought leadership and practical examples. His entire professional career is being devoted to achieve the best integration, convergence and symbiosis between Business and Technology, Telecom and IT, Telecom and IP, Voice and Data, Fixed and Mobile Telecommunication technical and operational domains.

Maxim Nagornov started his career in the 90s with positions in telecommunication engineering. He was soon assigned the leading role of Chief Engineer for one of the first regional mobile operators in Russia. Assuming full technical management responsibilities during the operator’s launch, Maxim established solid runtime operations with competent personnel and top quality KPIs.

Maxim joined Nokia in 1999 as a Customer Trainer, developing courses and educating Nokia’s customers all over the world. The spectrum of technologies, Nokia products, and operational methods he employed spread widely, covering fixed telecommunications, classical data interconnectivity and modern-at-the-time IP interworking. Interest in the converging technologies pushed Maxim into systems-integration direction and in 2001 he became one of the leading experts in Broadband Systems Integration. His natural passion for consulting and training brought Maxim into Solution Selling in 2003 where he spent more than 5 years providing solutions to NSN customers worldwide. Maxim was awarded “BBS Employee of the year” in 2004 for one of the biggest strategic wins. His deep knowledge in fixed and mobile telecommunication and data-communication technologies, as well as service provider’s operational models, made him a valuable consultant and solution-architect for Nokia Siemens Networks strategic customer engagements. One of those had been awarded the NSN Quality Award 2007 in Innovation.

In February 2008 Maxim Nagornov was invited to participate in the NSN Solution Transformation corporate strategic program as an expert in Solution Architecture and Integration disciplines. Later that same year he became the Head of the Solution Architecture capability development for Nokia Siemens Networks, leading the community of Customer Enterprise and Solution Architects worldwide. The main achievements in this role include development and adoption of the NSN Customer Enterprise Solution Architecture methodology, building the NSN Reference Architecture repository and continuous efforts in educating and building Solution Architecture community. During this time, Maxim Nagornov was a member of NSN Technology and Architecture governance board, leading the system integration stream.

In his young days Maxim challenged himself with mountain climbing, topping off his sport career with an expedition to Mt. Everest in 1997. He also worked as mountain rescuer in public rescue team for several years. Maxim lives with his family in Finland.
