Rodrigo Caballero was born in Bolivia, but has lived mostly in Europe. He started working with computers in 1967 (Tel-Aviv, Israel). He has participated in the IT revolution in Europe and in Latin America, thereby gaining extensive experience on the international scene.
Starting at a time when there was very little experience in taking advantage of these new technologies, his career has consisted of developing and implementing new applications and systems for diverse economic activities, and in preparing organizations and people in diverse cultural contexts to use them.
His first management responsibilities were at Metro Selbstbediennung Grossmaerkte GMBH (Metro Cash and Carry), one of the first German corporations to aggressively take on international challenges in the late sixties, supported by an advanced concept of technology assisting human capacity. As IT Manager, Rodrigo assisted in the installation of Metro in France, Germany, Austria and Italy.
His next assignment was introducing computer information systems to eight universities in his home country, Bolivia. Upon successful completion of this task, he was hired by Digital Equipment Corp. as Branch Manager for the Southern Cone.
He then worked for NCR, and was trained to specialize in Banking Information Systems. He installed Novel data processing systems for banks in Bolivia, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, while also providing the necessary training to personnel ranging from bank tellers to managers.
Back in Europe in 1989, he opened his own startup company with two of his brothers, specializing in the integration of personal computers to mainframe environments, and the development of graphic interfaces and communications. Until 2001, he worked in France, performing training and consulting activities. He is now back in his home country.
With these varied sources of experience, plus the professional command of five major languages, Rodrigo now serves EA Principals' worldwide programs for Enterprise Architecture training, focusing on Latin America.
