The Open Group (www.theopengroup.org) reports that there is a recognized convergence of technologies by industry analysts and practitioners creating the opportunity for a new federated architecture model. Gartner identified this as a ‘Nexus of Forces’, while IDC is calling it the 3rd Platform. At The Open Group, they are referring to the convergence as Open Platform 3.0™ What is Open Platform 3.0™? Then there is the ‘Internet of Things’ or IoT or the networked sensors and controls and the related intelligence that make the products and services smarter. Much of this are triggering fundmental re-think in the way business works. Digital Disruptions and Tranformations are causing paradign shift in business models within and across business verticals.

However, they also pose architectural issues and structural considerations that must be addressed for businesses to benefit. The Open Group Open Platform 3.0™ Forum will advance The Open Group vision of ‘Boundary-less Information Flow™’ by helping organizations take advantage of the convergence of these modern technologies and business models.
